Kim commenced training to become a Mediator in 2007 and has been mediating since 2009.  She holds certificates in Dispute Conflict Resolution and Advanced Dispute Conflict Resolution from York University and obtained her Master of Laws Degree (LLM) in Dispute Resolution from Osgoode Hall Law School.  Kim is also a certified Workplace Fairness Analyst through Workplace Fairness International.

In 2014, Kim obtained the Chartered Mediator (C.Med) designation through the ADR Institute of Canada which is the most senior designation for mediators. She applies various mediation techniques to effectively engage and assist parties with attaining successful outcomes. 

Previously a roster Mediator with the Ontario Mandatory Mediation Program (OMMP) - Toronto from 2012 – 2018, Kim mediated various civil litigation matters filed with the Ontario Superior Court.  She has mediated and arbitrated statutory accident benefit disputes on behalf of the Financial Services Commission of Ontario.  She has experience mediating Restorative Justice disputes, with a specific focus in victim offender mediation.

Kim’s decision to become a Mediator was driven by the desire to assist parties with being able to effectively work through conflict and reach sustainable outcomes. These outcomes directly affect the lives of the parties. Therefore, the outcome inevitably determined by the parties should be one which is decided by them. 

Kim utilizes facilitative and evaluative approaches to effectively engage parties and achieve successful outcomes. Through her extensive training and experience, she knows when to push forward and when to pull back, and what techniques to engage. She also has expertise with effectively addressing impasses when they arise and being able to move forward and past them to keep the resolution of the dispute on track.
